Jody Waring
Jody Waring, Co-Owner, Trainer

I have over 30 years of experience within the training and health industry, in addition to personal athletic and training pursuits and competitive sport. I have worked in many different aspects of the fitness and health industry. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Exercise Science with a specialty in Cardiac Rehabilitation. I spent the first part of my career working in Physical Therapy Clinics and in the hospital setting as a Cardiac and Pulmonary Exercise Specialist. I also dabbled in various jobs as a personal trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist. I have competed as a Natural Fitness Competitor and played many sports throughout my life. Needless to say, I have seen many different aspects of the health and fitness industry. In 2008 I was introduced to CrossFit while stationed in Sigonella with the Navy. I started my journey in an aircraft hangar throwing some weights around with a group of Navy Special Ops guys. It took me a few years to finally get the courage up to seek out a CrossFit gym in NH. Once I did, I was hooked! I have never looked back since.

Glen Waring
Glen Waring, Co-Owner, Trainer

My CrossFit journey began in 2013 after being introduced to it, and hearing about from my wife Jody. Not being one that enjoyed going to the gym, but always wanted to be more fit, stronger, and healthier, finding CrossFit was like finding the Holy Grail. The constantly varied programming, variety of movements, skills, and the community was exactly what was needed to keep me motivated, interested, challenged, and showing up every day.
Having coached youth sports for nearly two decades, and the primary sport being hockey, I found I greatly enjoy helping others improve their skills, abilities, and overall success at their sport. Once my sons moved on to high school and I no longer was coaching them and their friends, I realized how much I missed coaching. Therefore, going for my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certificate was on my “to do” list. In 2018 I was able to check that off the list. Since then I have also acquired the CrossFit Gymnastics Certificate, and the Burgener Strength Weightlifting Level 1 Certificate.

Justin Strevig
Justin Strevig, Trainer

Justin began like many thinking he would tip-toe into the waters of CrossFit based on the recommendation of a friend. However, also like many others, he quickly developed a love of all the tremendous benefits that CrossFit brings and dove head first into the sport of fitness. This immediate passion for CrossFit propelled Justin into coaching of the sport as it parallels his experience as a long-standing military officer and military instructor. Since that time, Justin has helped develop hundreds of young men and women in leadership and fitness. Justin brings his dedication to the development of others to his own gym where he continues to make a positive impact on those around him. He carries around more body hair than most people can deadlift – but don’t mess with him or Dian Fossey will hurt you. Don’t get it? It’s a “Gorillas in the Mist” reference – don’t worry, I had to Google it too.

Matt Fenton
Matt Fenton, Trainer

Matt’s introduction to structured fitness and athletics came in the form of martial arts classes at the age of 8. His dedication to the martial arts remained strong during his elementary and high school years, and his role gradually shifted from student to assistant instructor. This is where he first discovered the satisfaction of sharing his passion with other, like-minded individuals.

While in college, majoring in Kinesiology and Athletic Training, Matt added weight training to his fitness pursuits, first training for esthetics and eventually toward increasing athletic performance as the main goal. After leaving college, Matt attended massage therapy school, specializing in rehabilitation and sports massage. With this focus, came an interest in “functional fitness” and Matt spent some time deep diving into kettlebells and calisthenics.

After initially writing off CrossFit as “unnecessarily intense”, Matt begrudgingly entered Battle CrossFit in early January 2016, for the 5:30am class. That first WOD left him lightheaded and feeling a little sick to the stomach. But he came back the next day, and the next. After one week, he was hooked. In CrossFit, Matt has found a culmination of all previous fitness and athletic endeavors – cardio and weight training, training for esthetics and performance, gymnastics and calisthenics, all the functional fitness one could dream of, and most importantly, a community of like-minded individuals all striving to be their best.

Matt earned his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in November 2019, and eagerly began sharing his passion with others. Matt’s favorite part of coaching is seeing the expression on an athlete’s face when something clicks, all the pieces fall into place, and the athlete realizes they are stronger and more capable than they previously allowed themself to realize.
